New Frontiers for FTR and Verizon VZ

Now that Frontier Communications Corp has been cleared to purchase Verizon's land line operations one would expect happier horizons for Verizon amid the new Frontier, both of which one might expect to go UP at some point in 2016. But with the laggard economy and a bearish stock market, it may take till a new political regime in 2017 to shake things up again.

No more trust in Mesabi Trust? (Nyse:MSB)

So you think MSB might go up? Well I got news for ya, it will probably go way down!
It seems that last October the board, or others who do the financial reports to the SEC got a little behind on things and didn't quite make the deadline for filing the October dividend paperwork. Of course, that meant no October dividend and the price plunged....and plunged...and plunged...and slowly keep falling. If I had been smater then, I would have shorted MSB and made a handsome profit, but no, I merely decided it was time to bail on a once dandy dividend trust stock.
It will be interesting to see what happens in January when, I predict, the board will conveniently find another way out of paying a dividend, thus ensuring the stock value will fall further leaving hapless investors holding the "short" end of the stick.

So much happening since my last post....

Where should I begin? Benghazi,? the November "election"? and now we find that our trusted IRS has been playing dirty pool against conservative groups and individuals at the behest of the DOJ and yes, we will eventually find out, the White House.

And through all of this our dear Heimat-Abteilung: Sicherheit, otherwise known by the warm and fuzzy name of Department of Homeland Security, has been spying on all of us micro size individual conservatives as though we were enemies of the state!

National "Empty Chair Day"

Clint Eastwood has given great inspiration for what is rapidly becoming National Empty Chair Day. Eastwood addressed an empty chair as part of his speech at the RNC convention last week. It was a fitting metaphor for a President who has no record to run on and has sealed any records that might show who he really is.

So....in honor of empty chair day....

The BIG lie of the health care mandate....

It really is a tax as decided by none other than the Supreme Court of the United States!

So, all those liberals who think that they are helping those without insurance are going to find out next year that not only will it not help those whom they intended, it will increase their own taxes which will go straight into the bank accounts of the insurance industry without helping the uninsured.

Way to go Democrats!

Sadly, we are witnessing the destruction of the Constitution before our eyes. If we as individuals or as a nation fail to stop this travesty, the coming election in Nov 2012 may not mean much for the future of our once great country.

We are witnessing a political party willing to alienate even those who voted them into power for the sake of their rogue political agenda. It is a mix of oligarchy, dictatorship, socialism combined into a dysfunctional government that is no longer of the people, by the people and for the people.

We are witnessing elected political "spokes-people" who claim to be faithful practicing Catholics speaking as if for the Catholic Church in favor of abortion and government mandates for coverage thereof.

Sadly the situation has been so co opted trough a badly "written" bill called the ""Affordable" health care act" and the abuses tossed about by the current administration regarding Mandates that shouldn't have happened.
The point about employer based health care locking people into jobs they can't leave out of worry about losing (affordable) health care altogether.
I tried getting health insurance on my own, but due to 'preexisting conditions' was effectively denied. Strange enough by the time we are all adults, almost 100% will have some sort of health care coverage disqualifying 'preexisting condition'.

Now that the "genie" of the poorly named "affordable health care" bill is out and wreaking its havoc on our economy, we may never be able to properly fix the health care issue from either side of the aisle. And all this because of hyper partisan politics.

The 1% of radical anarchists an socialist who are protesting in Zuccotti Park, for all their combined intellect will never figure out who the real villains are in the games the are be played for.

Now, after two months of an ever increasing five ring circus, "they" have decided to actually occupy Wall Street rather than a private park in front of Wall Street. While NY Mayor Bloomberg (yes, of Bloomberg financial fortune) supports the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) folks, I don't think the operators of the New York Stock Exchange will be quite so welcoming.

As it is, OWS protesters should have figured out by now that they are nothing more than a distraction for a failing administration to operate behind.

With that astoundingly stupid comment, Elizabeth Warren, an obviously liberal (read Democrat) candidate for the US Senate from Massachusetts- the ultimate land of East coast liberals- steps into the theatre of absurdity.

A factory moved it's goods to markets on roads paid for by "the rest of us". Of whom is she talking about? Us taxpayers or "the rest of us", which I would deduce in liberal-speak means those on the government dole or who work for -employed by- the"government" (which get all of it's working capital from the true "rest of us"the taxpayers.

I work in a factory. I drive on those same roads that the goods my factory produces are delivered on. I pay taxes. The company I work for pays taxes. The owner of the company pays taxes.

I was educated mostly through public education, a choice I was not legally able to make, being a minor at the time. Now, being an adult, married, but with no children, I pay taxes for other people's children to attend public schools. Is that fair? not really. Do I have a choice? again, NO.

Ms Warren's statement stipulates that corporations unfairly have access to the use of public roadways. What she, and most liberals fail to understand is that the corporations, large and small that employ people create wealth through that same employment. By the act of employing someone, there are employment TAXES paid by the employer. Those taxes go into the public fund which is set up for infrastructure, which helps everyone, including the corporation that produces good that are shipped to market on those very same roads Ms. Warren states were only there but for the work of "the rest of us".

Ms Warren's own statement on class warfare can be used directly against her. She, like so many other politicians does not create wealth. Yes, she employs people who work for her, but they are paid for with public (tax) money, not her own corporate earnings. SInce she doesn't contribute to the economic growth and public funding -as she is insinuating corporations do not do- she herself should not be allowed to use the public roads either!

Debt Default or Governance Default?

Democrats, who have controlled the budget process for the past two years failed to pass a budget. Now, with a completely arbitrary Aug 2 deadline, these same Democrats, chief among them Pres. Obama, are crying wolf that the US won't have enough money top pay it's bills, otherwise known as the deficit/debt.

Obama has made it quite clear and official that the social security funds aren't there and haven't been for decades, Again thanks to reckless Democrat budgets over that time period. He uses them as a weapon in his desperate bid for an increase in the maxed out credit card limit known as the US Treasury.

To put it quite simply, the debt limit increase is congress voting itself a new line of credit to pay off the debts on the previous lines of credit. In layman's terms: if your credit cards are all maxed out and you are making minimum payments just to keep above water and open a new credit card to pay down the other credit cards, it is only a very short time before the new credit card is maxed out and you are back to the same position, only with even more debt to your name.

By capping the credit limit and reducing the spending, more money is freed up to pay the debts. Yes it will take some time to reach a zero balance, but it does really happen that way.

Though considering the infinitesimally small size of the sample and the thoroughly non-scientific polling method, we might actually be pretty close to the national polls at this point in the race.

Poor Obama, he knows he won't get re-elected, but has to try anyway because his Deluded National Committee feels that he is the DNC's best choice.

Obie Wan was never the shining knight rescuing a fallen nation. Rather, he was in fact the dark lord, seeking to corrupt any who saw the truth before they might come to believe in the truth.

Moody's plays dirty pool with US credit rating

There is a word for such chicanery as this move by the credit rating company, Moody's, to threaten a downgrade of credit if what they want isn't done:

BLACKMAIL

"Moody's Investors Service said Thursday there is a very small but rising risk of a short-lived default by the United States if there is no increase in the statutory debt limit in coming weeks."

Put simply, Moody's feels we as a country should "spend our way out of debt" rather than be good stewards and reduce our spending.

Note that the sentence above said "short lived default", as in we default for a short ime while the spending drops to more appropriate levels. Presumably by that time the creditworthiness would again RISE, improving the credit rating. If it were only so easy. Since Moody's is playing the threat game to get GOP House members to go along with Obama's answer to rising debt.

It is very apparent that Moody's is FAR from being an independent investor credit rating service and is really now become another bought and paid for arm of the most corrupt federal government in all of US history.

I got it all wrong; Obama just jumped his shark!

It's all down hill from here! He won't be able to prove OBL kill photo, because he doesn't actually have it. nor will he be able to improve the economy and unemployment numbers by throwing ever larger sums of money at the "problem". Obama, in true 21st century TV terms, just jumped his own shark!
