The saddest part in all this madness is that true reform was never the goal.

Today the Senate plan is $849B, by next Monday I'd guess the cost estimates will be in the Trillion$ range again.

All it takes is 60 mortal individuals in the Senate to vote yes on this travesty to shackle millions with a mandatory tax/fee/surcharge/premium that will fund abortions with taxpayer money. In essence, our government will officially be in the dirty business of abortion by the mandate of a handful of people who don't care about life or of those who do care about life.

If one looks at the numbers, the costs all rise. the House plan requires $15000/year which comes to $1250/mo. Obvioulsy the minimum wage earner cant' afford that, so they can apply for a subsidy. Where does the money come from? The overpriced policy that the middle class income earner pays. 1/2 of the middle class earners premium actually goes to paying for the minimum wage earner who can't afford to pay the mandatory premium otherwise. Forced servitude on the lwer and middle class, with a "luxury" premium tax thrown at the "rich" to make the brew palpable to the brainwashed masses.

JCT Confirms Failure to Comply with Democrats’ Mandate Can Lead to 5 Years in Jail

Washington, Nov 6 -

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

“Criminal penalties

Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.

“The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Speaker Pelosi’s decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. Fortunately, Republicans have an alternative that will lower health insurance costs without raising taxes or cutting Medicare,” said Camp.

According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker’s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.

Zero Tolerance or Tolerance of Zero?

Lately, over the past 20 or 30 years there has been a dramatic increase in what are called "zero tolerance" policies and more recently laws. More often we hear or read of incidents where school children are suspended for bringing an ordinary table knife to school, or some other minor infraction that happens to be a "zero tolerance" policy.

"Zero Tolerance" is a peculiarly liberal response to a basic lack of enforcement of rules. Since enforcement based on subtleties is complicated, it seems much easier to make the rule "zero tolerance" to avoid having to actually study the context of the infraction and make a decision based on that context. I say it is 'liberal' in the sense that rarely does a conservative thinker feel the need to reduce rules and law to zero tolerance. True there are specific situations that zero tolerance works, but to apply it to increasingly specific areas of society is really making a targeted law that skirts the essence of the rule of law.

By having zero tolerance of any minute infraction more innocent than guilty are caught into the net. expanded far enough, society will have zero tolerance for anything, good or bad since what is good to one person can be argued as bad by another.

Smoking in public is one area where the zero tolerance is creeping in. 30 years ago, there were smoking and non-smoking sections of restaurants, today (in California) there is no smoking allowed at all in restaurants (bars are excluded), work places, malls.

The example, of the child bring an ordinary table knife to school and being suspended, I cited earlier has many copies. The aim was to reduce gang violence in public schools by making it a serious violation of school policy. To enforce the policy of zero tolerance, every child is searched before entering the school grounds (especially noted by metal detectors at numerous junior and senior high schools). As a result our schools resemble high security prisons rather than institutions of education.

Several years ago, the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) had a zero tolerance policy for any thing with a blade (scissors, knives, fingernail clippers etc) and would immediately confiscate the item. I recall at one airport numerous nail clippers being confiscated. less than fifty feet away at the first in-terminal store I could see that nail clippers could be purchased. The exact same item that was being confiscated at the security checkpoint! It was truly ridiculous!

Well, it has been a while since I last posted here. Politically, it is becoming the perfect storm as liberal Democrats attempt to force America into socialist health care even though the majority of Americans do not support "single payer" socialised health care as proposed by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. In August while congress was on vacation, most Democrat representatives held town hall meetings to raise support for "Obamacare", facing angry crowds at every turn. Some representatives absconded their duty as representatives and refused to listen to their constituents, with one going so far to openly defy the majority in his own district!

Last week, fearless leader- Obama- spoke live to a joint session of congress to sell his version of Obamacare. At one point in his speech, Rep. Joe Wilson (R, SC) spontaneously shouted "you lie!". The way the liberal Democrats responded to that outburst you would think Wilson had uttered blasphemies in a sacred house of worship. Yes, congress does demand decorum, but it is hardly a sacred institution. Rep. Wilson is correct that Obama is lying. Obama is a pathological liar.

Why won't Obama release his birth certificate?
There is a truth he doesn't want revealed.

Why won't Obama give specifics to his health care plan?
He has no clue how to make it work.

Why does Obama appoint "czars" who have no qualifications and numerous negative legal issues?
He has no real governing experience, no management experience and clearly has never had to do a pre-employment background check on anyone.

Who supports Obama when he is clearly lying?

The SEIU, Service Employees International Union even uses Obama's "Change" slogan in their own website. Our dear, hopelessly lost congress just blew through a billion dollars (yes, that's one thousand million) in less than one week! Now they want to add $2 billion more for a total of three billion dollars that will be gone in less than a month. At this rate, this clunker of a progran would cost taxpayers $52Billion per year! Of course the idiots in congress who voted for this didn't think that they would be spendinbg the whole $1B in only ONE WEEK. I'm sure they thout this teaser program would take at least a year to use up a billion dollars of taxpayer money.

These same US Representatives and Senators are the one who feel that gub'mint can run a national health care system. Gives new meaning to 'liberal arts'. The art of liberal deception is more apropos to the depiction af a 'benign' government run health care system that would mandate abortions and euthanasia, restrict needed care for chronic illness, and ultimately wind up costing the average American vastly MORE money than they are currently spending on health care.

The China angle is that while our government is giving those who can afford to buy a new car (those who still have jobs and the disposable income for a NEW car, the "clunkers" are permanently destroyed by ruining the engine, then crushing the car. Who takes the crushed cares? America has no steel industry left, thanks to liberals. China needs steel and they have the money to buy scrap iron fron the good ol USA and here are liberals in Washington making it that much easier for China to buy more US scrap iron.

Fearless leader, Obama, in his own special way acted stupidly when he re-ignited racial wounds with his remarks about a friend of his, Henry Louis Gates, being arrested for disorderly conduct.
It seems Gates was looking to draw attention to himself as a black man who was trying to enter his own house, by prying the front door open, when a neighbor called police, who responded and asked gates to identify himself. Gates apparently made quite a show about NOT identifying himself, which ultimately led to his arrest for disorderly conduct.
Obama, for his part chose to interject only certain parts of the scenario into his monthly media lovefest speech, with the disclaimer that he didn't know all of the facts of the case, yet publicly pronounced the police as "acting stupidly".
This is the president of the most powerful nation on the planet!!! Do the Democrats and Liberals even know what a charachter they have elected to the highest office of authority? It is no wonder why so many dictators love Obama, he looks more foolish than they do!

Redistribution of wealth is only a means to a beginning and an end to a growing economy

The idea that redistribution of wealth builds up society is rediculous. If our country has a trillion dollar deficit that we need to close, we could take all the money from 1000 billionaires and pay it off. Unfortunately, the ranks of the destitute would swell by 1000, who would then have to ask for financial aid from the very same government that just took their money. Guess what? We stil won't have enough money, because those billionaires supported thousands if not tens of thousands of jobs. More unemployed on the government rolls taking money from the trillion just confiscated to pay off the debt (which is still rising as all this is going on).
The very idea is being touted as "health care reform" by our dear leader Barry Sotero aka Barak Obama (POTUS), and many of our elected "representatives" in government. If enough people don't want what government offers, and government forces it uopn the population, is there any representation in our government? NO. By that, it does truly mean that we as a people are being taxed (by our government) without representation (the will of the people).

The saddest part of this whole quagmire congress is racing into is the they didn't even read the bill before voting on it! They don't even know what they actually voted for. The abuses of the congressional process by powerful lobbies is utterly rampant as seen by the recent vote on H.R.2454 and earlier on the grand $1.3T Stimulus package.

Don't wait until 2012!

There are political races coming up this year, 2009! If we start at the local level and vote the liberal "tax N spend" bums out, it will send a strong, clear message to thepoliticians to shape up for the 2010 congressional mid-term election!

Tax and spend politics does NOT WORK!

America, sadly, has a terrible record of voter participation! I have witnessed local election (County level) that had less than 10% turnout!!! If we are truly a democracy, ALL voters should have voted, or at least a clear majority of the population. Instead, we have situations where less than 10% of the voter population is deciding matters for the complacent 90%. The complacent 90% are aften most vocal when things don't go "thier way" even though they literally didn't lift a finger to vote.
This complacency continues at each level of government, until we get to the top levels where we have Representatives and Senators who are really controlled by a small percentage of their constituency making policy and financial decisions with apparent disregard for the greater good.
Since legislators set their own pay, the increased costs of their own energy bill will merely be paid for by the taxpaying public by way of pay increases, so, like any other commodity or service, the price increase is passed on to the consumer!

While the current uber-liberal government hasn't come out totally against guns per se, they have found a way around the gun control issue, remove the ammo. Unfortunately this misguided action also limits our police and military access to ammunition in cases of WAR or Uprising. Hmmm. Gives one thought to ponder, if Our government says NO to guns, but allows citizens to keep guns (just NO ammunition , please), then what has the 2nd ammedment become? A toothless appendage of our constitution!!! By limiting ammunition production, our uber liberal government has opened the door to outsiders and invasion!

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Wow! ABC news being a shill for the Bama! Who'd have guessed? If any network, I would have thought the National Bama Channel (NBC) would have been given first honors since they seem to have the most sniveling, brown nosing, news anchors of the three Bama Channels. Now with N. Korea successfully detonating a 20 megaton bomb, about the size of the one used on Hiroshima at the end of WWII, president Obama want to "talk" to N. Korea. Talk will achieve nothing except prove to N Korea that the US has a paper tiger as its president and the UN is even weaker than the US to defend itself.

California Supreme Court finally gets it right!

A reminder to vote NO on propostitions 1A 1B 1C 1D 1E 1F.

These are all poorly written "laws" purported to be propositions when in fact they are underwritten by our California Legislature. Along with being an abuse of the proposition process, these laws are written having little or no oversight, and any oversight given is subject to political influence.

In a time of a serious state budget deficit, prop 1C stands out as particularly egregious. The "lottery modernization act" should really be described as "Enron 2.0". The idea of the proposition is that the State of California could borrow $5B(yes, that's billion) against future California State Lottery "income" (as calculated by a lottery insider who can make the numbers fit) to balance the immediate (FY 2009) budget deficit.

Well, what happens next year, 2010, when we continue to have a deficit? Oh, then the state will "borrow" again based on future income which may or may not actually happen. The problem is that the borrowing may be taken for amounts greater than just one fiscal year! In other words, let's say the projected income for the next five years is $5B, they could borrow that to "pay down" FY 2009 deficit and repay the loan, with interest, over the next five years. Sounds good until the impending (yes it will happen) FY 2010 deficit. Now the state again borrows against future lottery income while still paying off the loan from last years' deficit. In typical liberal spending fashion, the lottery will be essentially used to pay for the deficit while a new deficit is created in our futures loan repayment to the state lottery.

That if coupled with the other propositions could amount to tax and spend plan that will most definitely bankrupt the 9th largest economy in the world. It is because of this corruption of the propostition process along with the clear abdication of legislative duties by our state congress that we have only one logical choice and vote NO on all the "propositions" on the May 19th ballot.

Pelosi, please resign

I would think Canadians would be upset about the US nationalising health care since they will lose their most convenient alternative to nationalised health care, the private health care system in the USA. Keep in mind that it is illegal to have a private physician in Canada. Yes, as a Canadian citizen they are requred to use the national health care and can not use a physician for private (non-nationalised) practice as is the case in the USA.

AIG used to be called American International Group, but I think it's time to call a spade a spade and rename the company "All-In Greed" since the corporate CEO's have no moral soul, only a purely capitalist soul.

Of course, they gave bonuses to all those who helped them to get some (not s0) FREE government money. Hey, our congress gave the money with NO STRINGS attached! Now they want to attach some ROPES!!! 90% ex post facto taxation!!?? Boy, did we elect some STUPID polliticians. Though I'm sure that the management of AIG still feels that the right politicians were voted in because they got Billions of dollars to "save the company" which really meant "save our pathetic bonuses" from bankruptcy.

Now, the esteamed and utterly reprehensible congressman, Bawny Fwank wants to have AIG return the bonus money, a paltry 175 million out of as many billions, in real terms 1/1000 the money we the taxpayers have already given AIG to "bail" them out. Strangely about the time the bonuses were paid, AIG suddenly shows a "profit" to justify the bonuses.... hmmm.

The whole situation is a game of collusion between the Democrats and the Banks. Notice how differently the Democrats are handling the Auto Manufacturers...'let them eat cake'.

Time for a REAL revolution!

The post eBay era has begun

So, those Q4 reports finally came out from eBay and their stock promptly went down as expected. What they at eBay don't seem to expect is any corelation with their change of basic business plan with the precipitous drop in revenues. As usual the business degreed management types, including the less than one year tenured CEO John Donahoe, blames the problems on the market, the economy etc. Never mind that his "disruptive innovation" was poorly planned and much worse, poorly timed. Never mind that eBay is one of the Nasdaq 100 so if they go down, the Nasdaq index will likely also go down with them (not after them).

Ebay.com is yesterday's news. In years past they were the place to sell or buy. Amazon.com will bump them off the top of the hill in this latest round of online battles.

It's too bad for those shareholders that bought eBay stock in hopes of being a part of something truly American and unique as eBay was. Their stock is languishing and their image is tarnished more than the antique and collectible bargains one used to be avle to find there.
