liberal equality is a myth

an interesting discussion on a Catholic bbs I frequent....
The effort to create equality can lead to all kinds of unintended consequences.
my response:

in liberalism, everybody is equal, nobody is better than anybody else, there is no reason to strive for excellence since everybody is already equal...

what a bland world. no geniuses, no bach, stradivarious, farnsworth or tesla. only bland, state controlled, innovation on a far less stellar scale. even no capital letters, lest they be deemed better than the lower case, or worse, suggest that there is an inequality to our existence.

while equality is a noble virtue, it is utter folly to mold people into such bland equality by any means. true equality in human terms is unattainable, since we are all unique.
